April 11 marks the annual celebration of the Barbershop Quartet and the uniquely-American art form of close harmony it continues to bring to the world. Founded on April 11, 1938, the Barbershop Harmony Society has made it its mission for the past 78 years to preserve and encourage Barbershop quartet singing in America and abroad, and together with our sisters in harmony we continue doing just that.
Houston Horizon Chorus will be hosting a Barbershop Harmony Day on April 11th at Memorial Church of Christ, 900 Echo Lane, in the auditorium. Choruses from around the city and surrounding areas will be in attendance as well as performing. Houston Horizon Chorus, The Woodlands Show Chorus, The Statesmen Chorus, The Houston Tidelanders Chorus, Katy Vocal Express, Space City Sound Chorus, The Cradle of Texas Chorus, and the Deci-belles will be showcased as well as many barbershop quartets.
This harmony celebration is open to the public. Performances will begin at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free.
